How To Know It's Time For New Tires
It's important to do all you can to keep up on the condition of your tires and replace them as needed. There may be times when you have to replace all four of them at once. However, there may be plenty of times in which only one or two tires need to be replaced. Therefore, it is important to take the time to inspect the condition of each tire on your vehicle. Never assume that if one is good, all of them are good. To assist you with the inspection, you will want to read through the following tips.
There's Tread Missing
Tread is something that you expect to see start to dwindle down as time goes on. However, if you are a safe driver and you are not burning rubber anywhere, this should be a slow process and the tread should wear down evenly across the width of the tire. If you happen to find that the tread is coming off too quickly or that it is even possibly wearing down on one side more than the other, you need a new tire. If the tread is uneven, you might actually also need an alignment. In this case, it would be a good idea to find a tire shop that can also do the alignment.
There Is A Bubble In The Sidewall
A bubble in the sidewall of a tire is never a good thing. In fact, it can be very dangerous to drive a vehicle that has a bubble in the sidewall of the tire. Tires with that kind of problem can blow out at any minute, causing you to lose control of your vehicle. That would be dangerous at any speed, but especially if you are going a high rate of speed when it happens.
Always make sure that you are calling around to the various tire shop locations in your area. You might find that your exact tire size is not one that everyone always has in stock. While one place might have some, another place might have to special order it. By calling first instead of just going out there, you will save yourself a lot of time and frustration. Also, if your tire is in really bad shape, you will want to refrain from driving it there. You will either need to have the vehicle towed to the tire shop, or remove the tire and rim from your vehicle and have someone give you a ride to the tire shop. They can put the new tire on the rim and you can put it on the car when you get back home.
